Sharon Lynn Campbell was born in Denver, Colorado on May 27, 1957. Her father, Julius Aldwin “Joe” Campbell, worked most often as a construction superintendent, and her mother, Irma Ledonia Andrews (Campbell), worked most often as a secretary. She has an older brother, James Alan, and two older sisters, Sandra Lee and Jo Ann. When Sharon was born, her family lived in the Denver suburb of Lakewood. They moved to Frisco City, Alabama in 1958 when she was less than a year old where her father owned a cabinet shop, and her mother’s cousins, the Kilpatrick’s lived.
They move to Huntsville, Alabama right after Sharon begin 1st grade where her father worked for a construction company and her mother worked for Boeing on the Apollo Moon Landing. Sharon attended Chapman Elementary & Junior High. She graduated from Lee High School in 1976. Sharon was very active in the youth group at First Baptist Church and her high school choir. Sharon then attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville until her father was diagnosed with cancer and given 6 months to live, so she decided to move back home to be with him. She worked as a proof operator for AmSouth Bank until after her father’s death.
She then moved to Alamogordo, NM and lived with her sister Sandy and brother-in-law Phil while attending New Mexico State University in Alamogordo. It was during this that she got involved with a Christian young adult singing group and met her future husband, Timothy Lee Burgess. Tim was in the US Army stationed at White Sands Missile Range. They were married in Alamogordo on June 14,1980. A few months after they were married Tim was released from the Army and they moved to College Station, Texas where Tim attended Texas A&M University. Sharon worked for the Agricultural Extension Office on the Texas A&M University campus as a Data Recorder Operator and then the Supervisor of Data Recorder Operators. They had one daughter, Gillian Kathleen, born on December 28, 1983 in Bryan, TX.
After Tim graduated in 1984, he got a job in the Texas/New Mexico oil fields and they moved to Hobbs, New Mexico. Sharon was a stay at home mom. They had one son, Calvin Andrew, born on December 28, 1985 in Hobbs. When the oil industry crashed in 1986 they moved to Scottsboro, Alabama where Tim got a job with the Tennessee Valley Authority at Bellefonte Nuclear Power Plant. Sharon remained a stay a home mom being very involved at church and at the children’s schools. From 1987 -1989, Sharon was the Youth Minister at Scottsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In 1989 Sharon took an Administrative Assistant position at Bellefonte Nuclear Power Plant. After 13 years of marriage Tim and Sharon were divorced.
While at Bellefonte Sharon met Henry Wayne Loftis and they were married on February 17, 1995 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and they have since lived in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee. Sharon was a stay at home mom again and was very involved at the children’s schools and volunteering in the office at Grace United Methodist Church where they still attend. Sharon has served on most of the committees at church, a member of the choir, taken many mission trips, (both nationally and internationally) been a Youth leader, children’s Sunday School teacher, and church lay leader. After Wayne had 5 by-passes and diagnosed with chronic heart failure and stage 4 COPD he was put on permanent disability and unable to work, so Sharon went to work as a receptionist at a orthopedic surgeon office. In 2007, Sharon took a job as the Administrative Assistant at Hickory Valley Christian where she still works. Wayne and Sharon love traveling, cruising, and spending time with their granddaughter, Leah Caitlyn Burgess (daughter of their son, Calvin).
